Incident Details:

Cpl. Starker was on military leave from Calgary EMS, serving as a reservist in Afghanistan with 15 Field Ambulance of the Canadian Forces. On May 6, 2008, Michael was killed by enemy fire while conducting a foot patrol in the Pashmul District of the Zhari region. Michael was employed with Calgary EMS since June 2005. Another CF soldier was also injured.

Michael is survived by his wife Nicole.
